Brianna Nichole Long was a radiant light in the lives of everyone who knew her. Born with a kind heart and a joyful spirit, she touched countless lives through her generosity, compassion, and unwavering dedication to helping others. A bright student, loving daughter, and cherished friend, Brianna’s life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of character.

Brianna graduated with honors from Paulding County High School in 2020, where she was deeply involved in both academics and extracurricular activities. She excelled in cheerleading, soccer, and was an active member of the Spanish Honor Society, BETA Club, Future Christians of America, and was voted Ms. PCHS by her peers. As a senior at Valdosta State University, Brianna was pursuing a degree in dental hygiene, set to graduate in May 2024. Her future was bright, filled with dreams of helping others through her chosen career. Even while balancing her academic responsibilities, Brianna was always willing to give her time to others—volunteering at underclassmen orientations, playing intramural soccer, and working to support herself. She embodied the qualities of perseverance, selflessness, and hard work.

On October 29, 2023, Brianna’s life was tragically cut short when she was struck by a stray bullet while working in Valdosta, GA. The news of her passing shook her community, and her funeral was held on the football field at Paulding County High School—an honor never before given, but a fitting tribute to someone whose impact was immeasurable. Her untimely death left a void in the hearts of family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Though Brianna’s life was tragically brief, her legacy continues to shine brightly. Her warmth, kindness, and commitment to service are the foundations upon which the Be The Light Scholarship Foundation was built. Through this foundation, her spirit lives on, inspiring others to be a light in the world as she was.
